Room: BSMC

Five Wednesday nights: October 4, October 11, October 18, November 1, November 8 (skipping October 25).   From 7:00 - 9:00 PM.

The path of the Bodhisattva Warrior begins with developing affection for ourselves and expands this to others, dissolving the barriers that divide us. In this four-part course, senior teachers offer 21 wonderful talks, accompanied by contemplative and meditation practices, from the Buddhist Mahayana teachings of our lineage.

Through its four topic areas, this course presents an overview of the main Mahayana Path teachings, as well as suggested reading and contemplation questions to help you deepen your understanding of the material.

We plan to offer the complete course over the span of a year and are continuing with the third of the four sections:

Fearless Garuda: Emptiness and Absolute Bodhichitta

with Judith Simmer-Brown, David Schneider, and Melissa Moore

The five classes are:

  • Prajnaparamita and Absolute Bodhichitta with Judith Simmer-Brown
  • Heart Sutra with David Schneider
  • Feminine Principle with Judith Simmer-Brown
  • Glimpses of Shunyata with Melissa Moore
  • Prajna and Compassion with Judith Simmer-Brown

The course will be hybrid, and will consist of viewing the talks followed by our own discussion of the material and the experience of the readings and contemplations.

The Zoom link will be provided to registrants prior to the course.

Generosity Policy applies:  The Birmingham Shambhala Center does not wish restricted finances ever to interfere with one’s ability to receive the teachings.

  • If paying the full price presents an obstacle to your participation, please use the “Pay what you can” option for registering, filling in the box with the price you are paying.  You can pay online with PayPal or a credit/debit car, or pay the amount at the door.
  • If you need to arrange a payment plan,  please make arrangements prior to the program by contacting Nick Buckner at [email protected].
  • For those who can offer more than the program price, we have a “patron price”. Your generosity in offering the patron price helps cover the costs for others who are not able to pay the full price.
