11th Step Meditation Group Meeting

The BSMC 11th Step Meditation Group Meeting is similar to a traditional 12 step recovery meeting with open discussion and sharing.  The main focus is on practicing meditation as directed by the 11th Step. The group meets every Monday from 5:30 – 6:30 pm; the contact person is Danny Rosser (205-960-0453).

Members of any 12 Step tradition – AA, NA, CA, OA – are welcome to attend.  Anyone with a desire to improve their conscious contact with their higher power through meditation is welcome.  Meditation instruction will be given on specific topics dealing with recovery.  The Big Book, NA Basic Text, and any spiritual text dealing with meditation and recovery will be discussed.

Participants are welcome to stay for the Center’s regular Monday night open meditation session where they can receive further meditation instruction and strengthen their meditation practice.

Refuge Recovery Group

The Shambhala Centers offers a place for the weekly Refuge Recovery meeting on Fridays from 5:30 – 6:30 pm. All are welcome.

Refuge Recovery is a Buddhist-inspired path to recovery and a community that uses the practices and principles of meditation, mindfulness, compassion, forgiveness, kindness and generosity to heal the suffering addiction has caused us as well as our loved ones. Our path of practice is called the Four Truths of Refuge Recovery. It has proven effective for those who have committed to it. We feel confident in the power of the Buddha’s teachings, if applied, to relieve the suffering of addiction in anyone’s life.
