Body and Health
Our classes are offered for the suggested price of $10.00 per lesson (or whatever you can afford). One hundred percent of the money goes to the BSMC building fund.
T’ai Chi
T’ai Chi classes are offered weekly at the Center on Sundays from 9 – 10 am. Together participants explore traditional temple style T’ai Chi. These classes, taught by Brian Dunagan, are integrated with Qigong (Breath Art, or Chinese Yoga), and standing/seated guided meditation. T’ai Chi is a wonderful way to express yourself, and is known to increase circulation, lower blood pressure, and improve balance. All you need is something comfortable to move in and a willingness to have fun.
On Sundays we share the meditation hall with other community practices and sometimes may need to either change the location or interrupt class. Please check the website and your email each week for any schedule interruptions.
11th Step Meditation Group Meeting
The BSMC 11th Step Meditation Group Meeting is similar to a traditional 12 step recovery meeting with open discussion and sharing. The main focus is on practicing meditation as directed by the 11th Step. The group meets every Monday from 5:30 – 6:30 pm; the contact person is Danny Rosser (205-960-0453).
Members of any 12 Step tradition – AA, NA, CA, OA – are welcome to attend. Anyone with a desire to improve their conscious contact with their higher power through meditation is welcome. Meditation instruction will be given on specific topics dealing with recovery. The Big Book, NA Basic Text, and any spiritual text dealing with meditation and recovery will be discussed.
Participants are welcome to stay for the Center’s regular Monday night open meditation session where they can receive further meditation instruction and strengthen their meditation practice.
